Thirty Eight is a family-owned seafood restaurant at Pier 38 in Honolulu, in the space formerly home to Nami Kaze and Uncle’s. Because it sits right on the harbor, the restaurant says, its fish comes straight from the source, and its concept connects local farmers with fishermen for a hook-to-table approach.
Partners named on its website include Aloun Farms, Ho Farms, Sumida Farm, Waialua Growers and Fresh Island Fish, along with fish bought directly from local fishermen at the harbor. Thirty Eight is open daily for lunch and dinner, with weekday happy hour in the afternoon and brunch on weekends.
For Honolulu Restaurant Week, Nov. 7–15, Thirty Eight serves three courses for $49. Start with hamachi crudo, an ahi and bluefin toro tostada or shrimp toast, then choose miso butterfish with squid ink risotto or short rib with bo kho demi-glace, and finish with banana bread and roasted banana ice cream. Wine pairings are $10 more per course.
