ZIGU is a Japanese izakaya and sake bar on Seaside Avenue in Waikīkī. It cooks in a Japanese style using ingredients found in Hawaiʻi and works with local farms, and it says its menu isn’t strictly Japanese or any one style. The only rule is fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Guests can sit in the cozy dining room or out on the courtyard terrace, in a building the restaurant notes has been part of Waikīkī for nearly a century. The menu includes sushi, sashimi and omakase sushi selections, along with a large variety of sake and shochu, happy hour and private events.
For Honolulu Restaurant Week, Nov. 7–15, ZIGU offers a $99 dinner for two, about $49.50 each, for a share-style Japanese meal: Sumida Farm watercress salad, mochiko chicken, a local trio of nigiri, washugyu steak and chilled kale noodles. A sake pairing is $36 more per person. Restaurant Week menus are dine-in only.
